Project: Spiteri Water Pump (Stage III)
Topic: Renewable Sources of Energy (RSE)
Objectives
The whole project - Spiteri Water Pump (SWP) - involves the development of a prime mover machine that uses water pressure as the driving force to convert Hydraulic Energy to Potential Energy (waterfall). From this waterfall, turbines will generate electricity at any site in the world, while it is functional round the clock, at a very low cost, better than wind energy.
Following the construction of the prototype model, technical feasibility tests to confirm the F&E Analysis, and
the necessary patent applications, the next logical step (Stage 3) is to use the experience gathered by the previous stages to develop the machine further.
The objective of Stage III is to construct six power modules while making the necessary improvements in materials, designs and processes, and to confirm that the product will perform as specified. This stage is expected to take 1.5 to 2 years and should bring the project to the commercialisation stage.
Description (Brief Description of Project & Work packages):
Following the guidelines in the Engineering Stages of a New Product Development (Stages 3 & 4), the initial
step to the commencement of stage III is to set up a strong team comprising of:
· Understudy Design Engineer
· Development Engineer
· Manufacturing Engineer
· Test Engineer
· Marketing/Cost Estimator
Together, the team will follow the, already established, project plan for the successful completion of the product development, which will include the following sub-stages:
a) Set up new working drawings in digital format, including all improvements and final changes
b) Identify Outsourcing Possibilities of parts of the machine
c) Set up an Assembly Work Shop including the necessary tooling and technical personnel
d) Design, fabricate, assemble, and commission a power plant consisting of 6 Model SS54 modules
e) Ongoing testing of the system for continuous improvement
f) Plan a Market Campaign to attract the potential investors and markets
Completion of the above will bring the project to the full commercialisation of the product, were the machine’s Unique Selling Point will be to extend and facilitate the use of Hydroelectric Power
around the clock, at any site, to the whole world, using no consumables such as fossil fuel.
