When applying for grants to support projects and other implementing measures, one should ensure that the intended activity falls within the range of activities funded by CIP and that it is covered by an open Call for Proposals. Applications are to be submitted by not later than the deadline set for the respective Call, following which the evaluation of submitted applications is undertaken by a panel of independent evaluators. Marks are then awarded to each project proposal on the basis of clearly defined award criteria. Proposals that pass a minimum required threshold will be considered for funding, with grants being awarded within the limits of the budgetary resources available within the respective Call.

As regards the CIP financial instruments, please note that the Commission does not provide direct financial support; the SMEs interested in obtaining funding under this scheme should consult the list of approved financial intermediaries that have an agreement with the European Investment Fund.
