Budget and administration

The total CIP budget for the 2007 - 2013 period amounts to €3.6billion. This amount is split across its 3 operational programmes as follows (€mio):

CIP Pie-Chart, Budget distribution

Each of the three CIP operational programmes has its own annual work programme which is managed by the European Commission, assisted by a separate management committee (consisting of representatives of each EU member state and by observers of non EU countries that participate in the programme). After receiving a favourable opinion of the respective management committee, the work programme needs to be adopted by the European Commission. After the adoption, the relevant European Commission department(s) will manage the activities under the work programme. These work programmes also give clear details of the actions covered by the calls for proposals and tenders to be published each year. The calls are published in the web page of each CIP programmes.

As the CIP is centrally managed by the European Commission, the national administration is not involved in the management of the CIP as in the case of other EU programmes (i.e. Structural Funds). However, at a national level, additional information on the CIP can be obtained from the designated National Contact Points. Moreover, the SMEs can get further information and assistance related to CIP and other EU funding opportunities from the recently established business support services network – Enterprise Europe Network
